Start with the AREX all-stop train if you are staying near the airport line. For a hotel further away, compare the airport bus route with a taxi or private transfer. Arriving late? Check departures before choosing.

Check the journey to your accommodation, including the walk or connection after the airport train or bus. A fast ride to Seoul Station is only useful if it puts you near where you need to be.
Choose by destination and arrival time
Check departures before choosing a train or bus for a late arrival. The last service depends on your terminal and route.
Allow time between landing and reaching the transport stop for immigration and baggage collection. For a late flight, have a backup if you miss the train or bus you hoped to catch.
| Your situation | Take this |
|---|---|
| Landing after midnight | Night bus if one goes your way, otherwise a taxi |
| Staying near Seoul Station, light bags | AREX express |
| Staying in Hongdae, Gongdeok or DMC | AREX all-stop |
| You were planning to take the subway | AREX all-stop, then change onto the metro |
| On a budget, light bags, daytime arrival | AREX all-stop |
| Hotel is on a bus route | Limousine bus |
| A group with large bags | Compare a taxi or private transfer with enough space |
| Staying outside central Seoul | Check the bus routes first. There may be a direct one |

Before leaving arrivals
Have your accommodation’s address and nearest station ready. Check your arrival terminal against any ticket or collection instructions you have booked.
Allow time for immigration and baggage collection when comparing departures. If you cannot find your transport counter or stop, ask at an information desk before leaving the terminal.
1. AREX train
AREX runs an express service and an all-stop service.
- The express connects the airport terminals with Seoul Station. Reserved seating and luggage space. Forty-three minutes from Terminal 1, and fifty-one from Terminal 2.
- The all-stop train calls at every station on the line, including Gimpo Airport, Magoknaru, Digital Media City, Hongik University (Hongdae), Gongdeok and Seoul Station. Sixty-six minutes from Terminal 2 to Seoul Station, and a little less from Terminal 1. It costs considerably less than the express and takes a transport card.
For Hongdae, take the all-stop train directly. The express goes to Seoul Station without calling at Hongik University.
Choose the train if your accommodation is near one of those stations, or on a subway line that connects easily to one, and you are travelling light enough to handle your own bags on stairs and escalators.
If you want the express, its ticket can be booked in advance. The all-stop needs no booking at all: tap a transport card at the gate.
Journey times and stops are listed by AREX for the express and the all-stop train. Check the timetable for your terminal before relying on a late departure.
Add the journey from the station to the hotel to your estimate. With large bags and several changes, a bus that stops near the hotel may suit you better.
2. Limousine bus
Airport buses run from Incheon to fixed routes across Seoul, with stops at or near many major hotels. Your luggage goes in the hold, and you sit down for the whole trip.
Choose the bus if there is a stop near where you are staying. Search your destination on the airport’s own bus page. Several companies split the routes, so a stop missing from one operator’s map does not mean there is no bus.
Buy at the counter or a machine in arrivals, or in advance for Airport Limousine and K-Limousine. Some routes take a tapped card and some do not, so do not make that your only plan.
Arriving late? Check the night bus departures. The airport lists four Seoul night routes on its Terminal 1 page. N6002 calls at Hongdae and N6701 at Seoul Station. Compare the departure time and the journey from the stop to your accommodation before choosing a bus over a taxi.

Routes, stops and estimated journey times above are for Terminal 1, from the airport’s own night bus page.
Check the boarding point on the airport’s stop map or ask at the ticket counter. Match your route and terminal before heading outside.
Buy a ticket before you board. The airport lists ticket booths and automated ticket machines for these services. Check your route and departure before paying.
Check which payment methods the ticket counter accepts. Carry a backup payment method rather than relying on one card for the entire journey.
If you arrive at Terminal 2, use the airport’s Terminal 2 night bus guide. The journey estimates above start at Terminal 1. Check the current departure timetable for your terminal.
Bus journey times depend on road traffic. Leave room for delays when connecting to another service.
3. Taxi
A taxi takes you to your accommodation without a station transfer. Confirm that the vehicle can carry your group and luggage before loading it.
Choose a taxi if the available public transport does not suit your arrival time or destination, or you need a direct journey with your bags.
The airport’s taxi guide lists standard, deluxe, jumbo and international taxis, with different fare rules and pickup locations. It advises using the designated taxi stands to avoid unauthorised solicitation.
Before boarding, confirm the destination, taxi type, payment method and any applicable surcharges or tolls. Ask at the airport information desk if you are unsure which queue to use.
If you intend to book through an app, arrange mobile data before you need it.
4. Private transfer
A car booked in advance. Check the meeting point, waiting allowance, luggage capacity and what happens if your flight is delayed before booking.
Compare a private transfer if you need a larger vehicle or want to arrange the pickup in advance. Choose a vehicle with enough passenger and luggage space for your group.
A transfer can be booked before you fly, with the vehicle and collection arrangements shown on the selected listing.
Read the cancellation rules and waiting allowance. If you are travelling alone with one bag, compare the train before paying for a whole vehicle.
Connecting to the Seoul subway
The AREX all-stop service connects with the subway network. A loaded T-money card can be used for the all-stop train and your subway connection. The express uses a separate reserved ticket.
Find the station nearest your accommodation on the official Seoul Metro map and note where you need to change. The subway guide explains line signs, gates and exits.
Check your terminal and the final connection
Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are far apart. They are separate buildings with a shuttle between them. Check which one your airline uses, both on arrival and on the way home.
Compare the whole journey, including any taxi or subway connection after the airport service. That is the route you will make with your bags.
Compare airport transport options
Compare tickets and transfers for your terminal and destination. For a private car, choose the passenger and luggage capacity your group needs.
