This policy explains what information this site collects when you visit posiltrip.com, why it is collected, and what you can do about it.
Information I collect
I do not ask you to create an account and I do not collect names, addresses or payment details. Two kinds of data may still be recorded:
- Usage data. Standard analytics such as pages viewed, approximate location (country or city level), referring site, device type and browser.
- Data you send me. If you email me, I keep that message and your email address so I can reply.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site uses them for:
- Analytics. To understand which guides are useful. I use Google Analytics for this. It is set to refuse advertising storage, advertising identifiers and personalisation, so what it records is used to count reading and not to build an advertising profile of you.
- Affiliate tracking. When you follow an affiliate link, the destination site may set a cookie so any resulting booking is credited to this site.
- Advertising. If advertising is shown, ad providers may use cookies or device identifiers to serve and measure ads.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them does not stop you from reading anything on this site.
Third-party services
I rely on third parties whose own privacy policies apply to the data they collect:
- Hosting, content delivery and traffic measurement (Cloudflare)
- Analytics (Google Analytics, provided by Google)
- Affiliate networks and merchants linked from the guides, such as Klook, GetYourGuide, Trazy, Agoda, Booking.com and Amazon
- Advertising providers, where advertising is shown
How the information is used
To keep the site working, to see which guides are worth updating, and to receive credit for bookings made through affiliate links. I do not sell your personal information.
Your choices
You can browse with cookies disabled, use your browser's do-not-track or tracking-prevention settings, and ask me to delete any email correspondence. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to or deletion of personal data I hold. To make a request, email [email protected].
To stop Google Analytics measuring your visits to this site and any other, Google publishes a browser add-on for the purpose: Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Nothing on this site stops working if you use it.
Where the data goes
Analytics data is processed by Google and may be stored on servers outside your own country, including in the United States. Google's handling of it is covered by Google's privacy policy. I keep analytics data only for as long as the account retains it, and I do not combine it with anything that would identify you by name.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and I do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date at the top.
