For a gap between checkout and a flight, start by asking your accommodation whether it can hold your bags. If returning there would take you out of your way, compare a station locker, a staffed storage counter or a delivery service.

Choose around where you need the bag next. Storage is useful when you will return to the same place. Delivery is worth investigating when the bag needs to reach your hotel or airport while you go elsewhere.

Ask your accommodation first

Give the property your arrival and collection times and ask whether it can store your bags, whether there is a charge and when someone will be there to return them. A late checkout and luggage storage are different requests.

If you are changing hotels, ask both properties before deciding where to leave the bags. A short detour to collect them may be easier than arranging delivery. The Seoul accommodation guide covers choosing a base.

Using a station locker

A locker works best when you will pass through that station again. Find a compartment that fits your bag before paying, and read the instructions for both storing and retrieving it.

The locker bank in the photo has a payment screen in the middle. Other lockers may use a phone. A QR code does not by itself mean that a visitor cannot use them. For Seoul’s T-Locker service, the operator’s English guide provides location and usage information.

Before closing the door, establish:

  • How you will reopen it, such as a password, phone or receipt.
  • Which payment methods it accepts and whether extra time adds a charge.
  • The latest time you can reach the locker to collect your bag.
  • Whether the items you want to leave are permitted.

Photograph the locker number and its location in the station. Keep any receipt or access code with you, along with your passport and anything needed for the day.

T-Locker warns that storage and collection are limited to subway operating hours. For an evening out, choose a collection time you can comfortably make. Do not assume a locker inside a closed station is accessible overnight.

Large compartments may be occupied when you arrive. If you cannot leave the bag with your accommodation, identify a staffed storage option before travelling across the city with it.

Leaving a bag with a staffed counter

Use a counter when you want someone to confirm that the bag can be accepted, or when it will not fit an available locker. Ask about the charge for your collection time, then keep the claim ticket somewhere separate from the bag.

At Incheon, use the airport’s official facilities directory to find baggage storage in your terminal. Read the individual counter’s location and hours. Facilities in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are not interchangeable.

Sending luggage to a hotel or airport

Delivery needs more planning than storage. Before booking, get confirmation of the exact hotel or airport terminal, the handover deadline and the collection or delivery window. Availability depends on the operator and route.

For a hotel delivery, ask the property whether it will accept a bag before you arrive and what name the booking should use. For delivery to the airport, work backwards from the airline’s bag drop deadline. Your suitcase needs to be ready for collection before you reach that deadline.

If you will miss the operator’s cutoff, ask what options remain. Do not assume the booking automatically moves to tomorrow. Keep medication, documents and anything you need before delivery in your day bag.

Choosing for the gap in your day

Your plan Start with
Staying close to the accommodation Ask the property about storage
Returning through the same station A locker with enough space and suitable access hours
Carrying a bag too large for an available locker A staffed storage counter
Sightseeing on the way to a different hotel Delivery, if the hotel and operator confirm the arrangements
Flying out later Storage you can collect in time, or airport delivery with a confirmed collection window

The best option is the one that lets you collect the bag without rushing. Choose that location and time before planning the rest of the day.
